Grilled fish is a dish liked by most fish lovers. Tilapia is a fresh water fish, very mild in flavor and boneless. Therefore, it is quite easy to eat. I usually grill it in a cast iron pan, but it can be grilled in an air fryer or in an electric griller.
- Whole Tilapia Fish – 1
- Lemon Juice – 1 tblspn
- Black Pepper – 1 tspn
- Red chili flakes – ½ tspn
- Garlic powder – 1 tspn;or garlic paste – 2 pods
- Olive or any white oil – 1 tblspn
- Chopped parsley – 1 tspn
- Salt – ½ tspn
1 twig of parsley, lettuce, onion and tomato rings, lemon slices.
Wash the fish thoroughly under running water. Pat dry & keep aside.
In a small bowl put all the above ingredients apart from the fish and whisk nicely to make the marinade.
Now in a flat bottomed bowl or tray pour the marinade. Place the fish over it and use your fingers to coatit with the marinade. Pour the liquid through the slits and in the chest pocket of the fish. Marinate for 15 mins. Flip the fish 1 or 2 times during the margination period.
Now it can be grilled directly on the grill pan. However there is a chance for the skin to stick to the pan, so it is better to wrap it either in a banana leaf or in silver foil so that the liquid is also locked inside.
Heat the grill pan (high flame). Place the foil-sealed fish and cook it with lid on lowheat for 10 mins. Flip it and cook for another 10 mins. Switch of the flame and let it rest for 5 mins.
Now open the foil carefully while the fish is still on the grill pan. If it is too dry then make a little more marinade and pour it over the fish. Turn on the stove and cook for 2mins with the foil open. It is ready to serve if it flakes easily with the fork.
Plate it with the garnishing ingredients.
