Green Peas Pulao or popularly known as “Matar Pulao” is very common dish of Indian household specially during winter when fresh green peas are available in abundance. Here I have used the method which is easiest and no fry. Even a novice cook can prepare it with ease. All the ingredients used are usually available in all kitchen and highlight of the recipe is “NO FRY PULAO”. Moreover this pulao could be prepared without oil or ghee too.
- Rice 2 cups Soaked for at least 1 hr.
- Desi Ghee/Any oil – 2 tblspn
- Fresh Green pea (con use frozen pea also) -2/3 cup
- Ginger julienne -1 tblspn
- Green Cardamom- 5
- Cinnamon stick -2
- Cloves – 5
- Mace – ½ flower
- Bay Leaf – 2
- Green chili- 2
- Salt – 1 tspn
- Sugar – 1 tspn (if want sweeter, put 1 tblspn)
- Water – 3 cups
In the cooking pan, pour everything one by one alongwith water. Cook uncovered for 5 mins or till the water starts boiling. Give a nice stir.
Cover and reduce the flame to minimum. Cook for another 10 mins. Uncover to check the moisture. If you find it dry, may sprinkle some water.
Cover it again and cook for another 10 mins.
Its done. Serve hot with any curry of your choice.
